Lesson Planning Updates

Several fixes have been made to the Lesson Planning process to prevent duplicate standards and vocabulary words from being attached to a Lesson Plan. We have also corrected a bug that would drop the last standard attached to a lesson plan upon first adding a block to your plan (the standards did attach correctly if you were simply editing an existing block).
Thanks go out to those teachers that provided enough information to help us track these issues down. Please contact us if you experience any additional issues.

This option is also available with an individual lesson block.

Delete Lesson Plans

A new option has been added to the Lesson Plan menu to allow you to completely delete a lesson plan.
Previously, there was a roundabout way of performing this function, so we've done some re-arranging to make it more easily available.

Please use this feature with caution!

There is no way to retrieve your lesson plan once it's deleted.
And, if you create a template based off a lesson plan, and then delete the lesson plan it's tied to, then the Template will also be removed!

Use the Contact Us page if you have any questions regarding this feature.

Lesson Planning by Subject

We have created a new weekly view that will allow those of you that prefer to plan by subject to do so.
You can also use it as a new way to format your condensed weekly lesson plans.

Start by selecting the "by Subject" option when you create a lesson plan.
* You'll need to create a new Template to use with this new type of lesson plan.

To add detail to a day, click the name of the Day.

Adding detail to your lesson plan uses the exact same interface you are used to when creating your daily lesson plans.

Here are a few tips to help you get started:

Change the Title of your "by Subject" Lesson Plan to the name of your Subject. That will allow them to show up on your Workspace by Subject.
When printing, choose the "Landscape" option.

We will soon be adding different styled "Day of Week" images. Look for that on your Preferences page soon!
Please send us feedback on this new feature!

Lesson Plan Fixes

A few fixes have been made to the Lesson Planner this morning.
Thank you to those users for pointing it out to us.

The Vertical Info Block can now be edited again - along with moving them to the left and right.
Also, some fixes were made to the Group Functionality. Hopefully, the generic groups (Whole Group, Small Group, Individual) are showing up for everyone.
And the students names should now be listed with the group.

Some minor spacing corrections were made to the Lesson Plan itself so it will hopefully print a little cleaner.

The Teacher's picture will now show up on the Lesson Plan and will also show up in the Public Lesson Plan viewing as well.

Contact us if you discover any issues and we'll get them corrected.

Yearly Rollover

The Yearly Rollover of My Lesson Planner data has begun.
Each year we archive the previous year's School Year Data to make room for the new School Year.

Remember, your information has not been lost. You will still be able to access the previous year using the reporting functions, however, you will not be able to modify information from a previous year.

Soon, a tutorial on accessing your previous information will be made available in the Training section.

Users that have already begun adding information for the 2007 school year prior to today, have had their data automatically migrated to the new year.

Feel free to contact us if you experience any difficulties.

New FASTER Framework Tree View

You can now find those Frameworks faster than ever!
We have completely redesigned the Tree View from the ground up to provide you with a faster and easier way to attach the Arkansas Frameworks to your Lesson Plans.

Also, it only loads the portion of the tree you are needing to view, so you don't have to wait for it to download the Frameworks you don't need.

Go to your Preferences and set your Level and Grade/Course in order to utilize the new tree view to it's fullest potential.

Weekly Lesson Plan Flow

The weekly lesson plan will now "remember" where you are when you are editing.
If you have a long lesson plan and go to edit one of your lesson blocks, the page will automatically load where you left off when you return from saving.
So, if you are working at the very bottom of your lesson plan, it will start you off at the bottom again.
This should save you some time scrolling up and down the page as you edit.

This change only took 10 minutes, but could save some of you a significant amount of time in the long run.

Weekly Lesson Plan - Phase I

Weekly Lesson Plans are here!
This is the first of many changes related to Adding, Editing, and Viewing your Lesson Plans in a Weekly format.

We'll be working on getting some training documents added to the Training Manual, but until then, here is a quick rundown of the features:
On your Lesson Plan page, when you create a new lesson plan, you can now choose whether it will be Daily or Weekly.
If you choose Weekly and you are using a Template, then a lesson for each day of that week will be created automatically for you.
There is a new button on the Lesson Plan page titled Weekly View. Using that, you can view any of your past lesson plans in a weekly format.
You can also edit an entire day of the weekly lesson just like you are used to doing, or you can edit an individual lesson block as well.

We'll be working to refine the process further, but we wanted to get it out there for you to start using so we can get your feedback.
Let us know how you like it. Send us your suggestions. More changes are coming soon!

Students can now be assigned to Groups. Currently, if you change the classroom, you will have to commit that change before assigning the group, but this will be fixed on the next update so you can change both at the same time.
And, on your lesson plans, when you assign one of your groups, it will pull in the listing of students that are assigned to that group.
Soon, a new preference will be added to allow you to control if these will show.

A new type of "Lesson Information Block" has been added. Instead of flowing into the bottom of your lesson plan, these will flow inline with your Lessons.
You can even move them up and down like you do your Lesson Plan Blocks!

If you prefer not to give the Inline block a heading, then just leave it empty. The notes section will span across the entire width of the Lesson Plan.

Currently, once you have set an Information Block to be Inline or Vertical it cannot be changed.
Try them out and let us know what you think.

Create a new Lesson Plan and add any Lesson Blocks or Information Blocks you want to show up every time you start a new lesson plan.
We recommend you add at least enough Lesson Blocks to cover every period for your entire day.

Anything you add to a Lesson or Information Block will be automatically pulled in when you create your next lesson including your frameworks!

After you get your Lesson Plan looking exactly like you want it, click on the Make this a Template button.
Then, give your Template a familiar name such as Empty Lesson Plan and click the Save button.
Now when you create your next Lesson Plan, a new dropdown option will appear that you can choose from.

Level Preference

A new Global Preference has been added to the preference page to allow you to set your teaching level.
The options are K-8 or 9-12.
This will limit the information that is pulled on each page, and should help speed things up a bit.

Another addition to the User Preferences was added today.
Standards that you've already used in this year's set of Lesson Plans will now be indicated in your searches.
Right now, this is only available in the Tree View, but will soon be available in both the Dynamic and Regular searches.
Those Standards already in use are highlighted in a different color.
